Let’s take myself as an example. And I am not saying I am nor should I be a reference to your everyday routine. But every morning, I grab the wall street journal on campus and I try to keep up with everything that’s going on in the world. From what is going to be Mr. Trump’s plan regarding Syria, China, Russia and ISIS, to how Amazon has implemented a 4 day work schedule, and building a flying warehouse… During the day, besides being in class or going to the gym, I read most, if not all the notifications that pop up on my apple watch, and coming from various sources let me tell you. From the New York Times to Vanity Fair, reading GQ, Bloomberg, CNN, Buzzfeed News, The Daily Mail, National Geographic, The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post along the way. Last but not least, at night, before going to bed I make sure I read a few pages of the latest book I am on.

All of this started when I read a quote a lot of you must know, which stated that “If you want to hide something from a black man, put it in a book”. It gave me the motivation necessary to become a better and more knowledgeable person. I didn’t like reading as a kid and I had no reason to. I guess at the time I was more focused on eating candy, watching TV, play soccer and play video games. Don’t get me wrong, I still do those things, some things can’t just go away that easily. But in the end, I understood I was lacking many things, and reading was one of them. I am glad I’ve embarked in this great journey. I am happy about myself and I encourage everyone to go ahead, grab a book, and read, each and every day. Become more knowledgeable and acquire more information, you will not regret it.
